Shelbyville Industrial Rail Spur
For the last 20 years, the Walking Horse & Eastern Railroad has served the Shelbyville Industrial Park from a single lead track. In 2009 with existing industries expanding and a new industry moving in, they turned to CSR Engineering to help them expand the rail system within the park.
Working closely with the railroad and the City of Shelbyville a plan for two rail spurs 900 and 1100 feet long was developed. The plan included a new grade crossing and a creek crossing.
With CSR Engineering assisting, a Fast Track Infrastructure Development Program (FIDP) grant was secured for the project through the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development. Final design was completed and construction began on the $500,000 project in September of 2010 and was completed in December of 2010.
